The four-tonne statue, valued at $5 million, will be on display in Aldergrove from August 6 - 15 as part of the world tour that began last year in Vietnam and will end next year when it will be placed at the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Australia.
The Jade Buddha will be on display at the Hoa Nghiem Temple (formerly Aldergrove United Church) at 2623 - 272 Street, Aldergrove.
The Jade Buddha is 2.7 metres high and is carved from the largest single piece of translucent nephrite jade ever found, called "Polar Pride". It was discovered in northern B.C. in 2000.
